Review: Hotel El Paso Salou
The Hotel El Paso, Salou is a holiday resort in itself. It’s a great place to stay if you want to visit the Port Aventura theme park and the Caribe Aquatic water fun park because it’s only 5 minutes drive away and the price of your stay in the hotel includes entry into the theme parks. There are various different packages available to book so you can spend as much or as little time in the theme parks as you choose.
The approach road to the hotel is lined with trees and during the busiest month of August there is also a security guard. The hotel itself is an impressive white building with lots of separate blocks of whitewashed buildings that make up the rest of the accommodation. The theme of the complex is Mexican and even the smallest details are done in a Mexican style. Hotel FacilitiesFamilies will love it here as there is entertainment on offer day and night – every day. There’s karaoke, disco, pool games, singing, dancing and painting competitions and that’s just to start. But you’re not pressured to join in if you don’t want and the grounds are large enough that you can still find a peaceful corner if you’re in the mood to relax.
The outdoor swimming pool is really big and contains a sunken pirate ship where all the children were playing when I visited. There’s a very laid back poolside bar and plenty of sun loungers surrounding the pool and bar. There’s even a man-made beach at one end of the pool! Other facilities include a total of 3 restaurants and 2 bars, and there’s a Kids Club. The staff at reception will also arrange car hire for you. To get you to the Port Aventura theme park there’s a free shuttle service from the El Paso hotel, and another shuttle that will take you to the beach.
RoomsThe hotel has a total of 500 rooms that are located in the main block and separate ‘houses’. Every room has air-conditioning, heating radio, satellite TV, phone, safe, minibar and en-suite bathroom. The Mexican theme is continued throughout and views are mainly of the pool, lush gardens or across the tree lined approach driveway to the el Hotel Paso Salou. Hotel Location And FacilitiesThe El Paso Hotel in Salou is 5 minutes drive to the Port Aventura Theme Park. You can drive to the coastal resort of Salou in 5 – 10 minutes and there you’ll find lots of shops, supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants. There’s also beaches along the coast of Salou including the 2 longest, which are the Llevant and the Ponent and both are sandy and full of facilities such as bars, cafes, showers and beach games. How To Get From The Airport To The HotelVia Taxi: A taxi from Reus airport to the Hotel El Paso Salou will take about 15 minutes and will cost approximately 16 euros. Via Bus: You can take a bus from Reus airport to Salou or La Pineda. From there you will have to take a taxi for another 5- 10 minutes. The bus from Reus airport leaves from outside the arrivals doorway. A single ticket costs 5.50 euros. Via Car: You can drive from Reus airport to the El Paso hotel in approximately 15 minutes. You follow the A7 motorway (sometimes also called AP7) and come off at the exit signposted for Port Aventura. The hotel is signposted off the main entry road into the theme park. In A NutshellThis is a well designed self-contained resort in a peaceful area with excellent access to the Port Aventura theme park and Caribe Aquatic water park. You can also get to the coast and the beaches of Salou in 10 minutes by car. There’s plenty to do for families with children and also lots of room for anyone wanting to relax by the pool. The hotel grounds are especially picturesque and everything is in a quaint Mexican style.
