Review: Cala Font Hotel Salou
The Cala Font Hotel in Salou overlooks a charming cove of the same name. It is in a superb location in an area called Cap Salou, east of Salou. From the hotel you have access to the cove within 1 minutes walk. Cap Salou is a really nice area that’s 10 minutes drive east of Salou. It’s a more modern area and there’s lots of pine trees. You can actually smell the scent of the pine trees in the air. The whole area of Cap Salou is on a hill. So wherever you are here you’ll be on some sort of slope. When you enter the Cala Font Hotel Salou you’ll find that the most unusual feature is a big circular hole in the floor. Through this you can see the bar downstairs. The colour scheme in the lobby is very rose, and there are huge picture windows to the left as you enter that give perfect views across the pool to the sea. Hotel Facilities
The hotel has a terrace that looks out onto the beach and sea. There are stunning sea views from the pool. The pool also has an attractive rock feature with water cascading down it. There’s a children’s play area, and entertainment such as games for the children and aqua aerobics in the pool for the adults. The reception area has lots of tourist information leaflets and they can advise you on some of the local attractions. There’s a bar and a restaurant, and the restaurant has lovely large windows with views out onto the sea. Facilities For The DisabledThe Cala Font Hotel Salou has rooms specially designed for disabled use. RoomsThere are hundreds of rooms and they all have air-conditioning, satellite TV, and central heating. Other facilities within the rooms include a direct line phone, safe, wake-up call service, piped music and balcony. Pets are permitted in the hotel. Most of the rooms look out onto the sea, and are decorated with colourful Mediterranean fabrics. Hotel Location And FacilitiesThere are lots of pine trees down the side of the hotel. On the opposite side there’s a parking area.
The Cala Font beach is not a huge beach, but it’s sandy and there are pedloes for hire. There’s also shaded areas at the back of the beach. Opposite the Cala Font hotel is a supermarket and a car rental office. There’s a cashpoint outside the hotel and a public phone. From The Cala Font hotel in Salou you can drive to the Port Aventura theme park in 15 minutes. There is a small selection of bars and restaurants in the Cap Salou area. For more hectic nightlife you’ll have to head into the main resort of Salou. This is a 10 minute drive. You’ll also see a ‘tourist train’ (that is actually a car that pulls several trucks and just looks like a train) that circulates round Cap Salou in then goes into the main resort. It passes by every few minutes and the stops for it are regularly spaced along the main road through Cap Salou. How To Get From The Airport To The HotelVia Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 30 minutes and cost 25 euros (including airport supplement), depending on traffic conditions Via Bus: There’s a bus that leaves from outside the arrivals lounge and travels to Salou via La Pineda. The bus does a round trip back to the airport again. A single ticket is 5.50 euros. The journey to Salou should take about 35 - 40 minutes. Cap Salou is between La Pineda and Salou. Reservations
